A Novel RIS-Assisted Modulation Scheme

In this work, in order to achieve higher spectrum efficiency, we propose a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted multi-user communication uplink system. Different from previous work which the RIS only optimizes phase of incident users's signal, use create virtual constellation diagram transmit data an additional user signal. We focus on two-user case and develop tight approximation for cumulative distribution function (CDF) received signal-to-noise ratio both users. Then, based proposed statistical distribution, derive analytical expressions average bit error rate considered two The paper shows trade off between performance users against each other as shift at RIS.
